Isn't that typical? That as people get older they get more and more risk averse...
Well, yeah, sort of... except that in general my growing-up / getting older experience has generally been about loosening up and getting less scared of things. Changing things (again, outside of me and my house) seems to be the exception, although I have done it a little this year. Chopping down those thistles... it was a little silly, but they're still gone, and I still think of that when I walk past that corner. Next is trying to persuade Bally's to get a Viper. :)
I figure it's because I've always assumed I'll be moving towards the top, and for a lot of my life that assumption worked without a whole lot of planning, but
Seriously. I still have a minor problem sometimes with not having a PhD... I think that whatever I'm doing I should go all the way with it. And yet, as the goals get harder it becomes totally valid to question whether it's worth it as well as whether you can. And that is valid. Basically, there is good reason to not pour your whole life into one thing, and there are levels you don't reach without doing that. And there are a lot of people who do admirable things and live great lives and don't get into the history books.
I plan to reach 98% peace with all this by the time I turn 30 by following a rigorous weekly schedule of meditation, thus setting a new world record. ;)
