Web comix and wedding programs

First off, I'd like to say that I have a whole new degree of respect for webcomic authors--maybe several degrees. I drew the first draft of the first strip of my comic on Saturday, and ooga wooga, was it ever tough. The final product is just in pencil too... no perfect-oval word balloons, lousy lettering, no inking. I'm happy enough with it as a pencil drawing, but it's clearly just not on the same level as what I'd like to produce. So I've been reading some how-tos and I want to try the entire process again, just redoing the same strip.

Wedding plans: as of today there's less than one month left (aiiiieeee!), and things remain in high gear. This weekend my big thing (aside from tracking down a couple of those who didn't reply) was typing up the program. We're going to have two sheets folded in half, one white sheet and one blue sheet (the cover). On the front cover is just our first names, the date, and three maple leaves--a scan of the same design we have on our napkins. On the back cover is an e.e. cummings poem that is meaningful to us. Both inside covers are blank. The middle four pages have the ceremony notes, random thank-yous, a cartoony map to the reception, and a poem I wrote for HLM shortly after we got together. Oh yes, and most of it is in the same font we used to address all the invitation envelopes (similar, though not quite identical, to the font on the invitations themselves). I'm really happy with how it all looks, and I already have the blue paper. So, now to just find some quiet weekend time to sneak into DSB and run off about 50 copies on the shiny new copier. >:)

On Saturday I also updated the wedding website with more info about hotel rooms at the hotel where the reception will be held, and added a new page with really anal directions to our place from Logan for our out-of-town houseguests. Tomorrow we meet with the reception lady at the hotel, where we ask a million questions, and then I'm doing a hair practice run with B (possibly makeup too, if I pick up the right things from CVS). Good... it's all coming together. Now if only my skin would clear up again... if only I knew how to make it not react badly to airplanes. It sure looks like crap at the moment, despite all my not-picking. I've added toner and lavender oil to my regimen.

I almost forgot... unlikely as it was with all the rest of this crap going on, I had a stunning lifting session today, breaking my records for leg press, SLDLs and adductors. I dunno how it happened--that's almost a record for records. I think it helped that I was walking around with my pre-lifting mocha instead of sitting down, and also that I was in a hurry. At any rate, I'm definitely back from that month or 6-week slump I was slogging out of, and that's good. I'm doing so freakin' well, maybe one of these days I'll even get back into squats. Woot. :b
