Girl in landscape, with plum and nectarine

I feel weird today. I've been avoiding the company party and yet I'm lonely because nothing's going on anywhere I usually go online. And because I failed to call Germany. Maybe I'm weirded because so much of the stuff in my life is actually about stuff just now... selling, shipping, buying (for the wedding), whatever. I'm usually much more about, say, whatever book I happen to be reading (which I wish I could get lj to ask, btw, instead of what music I'm listening to... I may have to start putting it at the end of my posts anyway). All these THINGS are more than I enjoy dealing with.

Today's book is Girl in Landscape by Jonathan Lethem, for what it's worth. He's cool. :)

I went to the store for a plum and a nectarine, partly so I'd be in the clear to have fries at dinner tonight. Ran into the company grouch in the kitchen and was able to silence his random insults by offering him a slice of nectarine. Sharing of food can be a surprisingly powerful thing... it gets to the hungry (and inevitably social) animal in all of us.
