Yep, the "maybe you get it, maybe you don't" is why I normally avoid grocery delivery - C is more into it in general than I am. I'm a convert for the moment, and the quality on Fresh Direct is better for some things than the stores near us (the fennel we got delivered today is beautiful! I have not seen fennel like this where I normally shop!) but it means hoping for the best/being ready to come up with an alternative recipe/meal plan if we order things x, y, z for a recipe but thing x doesn't get delivered.
