Takes two to tango

Whoa, that's alliterative, isn't it? Three tropical tangerine trees timidly trying to train two trout to trip trains. Anyway, tango class went well last night... it was the first thing all day to lift the dark moldy blanket of my mood. I did a lot better at the zen part of it (you don't really need enlightenment, the trick is just to assume that you're stopping after every step), and I was a lot more comfortable dancing with all the men, too. Just having touched most of them once before, last week, was enough that my body wasn't hollering stranger! every time I switched partners. Chemical memory? At any rate, we also got to learn several new step patterns, which was fun... oh, and the shoes I was wearing had a much chunkier heel. Funny how that's better for balance. :)

Bad news: M is still in labor after 16 hours of having contractions 5-10 minutes apart. It was apparently a rough night. Here is part of our IM conversation:

M's husband: now i'm thinking maybe you're not so crazy for not wanting kids :)
Me: oddly enough, editor bear said the same thing to me when he called on his cell phone while his wife was in labor [big toothy grin I just can't reproduce in plain text]

I didn't point out to him that it doesn't take three to tango. Just two. That is enough.

Gah...

16 hours in labor.. that has to be exhausting. :(

never tangoed

I have never done tango before. I don't think it is quite my cup of tea. Still, I am jealous that you got to go out dancing last night. Ever since the wedding it's all I want to be doing.

Sorry for M! Sorry for M's husband too ... I'm sure he's suffering with her in spirit.

Thanks

I know I have the happy dancer part down ... constantly working on the loose part.

No, I don't know M IRL, but I've heard a bunch about her. [livejournal.com profile] bluechromis and I go back to late '99.

How is he on IM?

from the hospital?

BTW, I am an idiot, I ran into Chris Rezek last night (from ADP) and forgot to tell him M's in labor. Duh!
