Hope for my electronica IQ?

Ooh, this is very exciting. We stopped for pizza after tango class, at this weird-pizza place we decided to try one more time for the sake of their more normal fare. While sitting there I got very into the music that was playing, some kind of pretty fast electronica but with some slow parts, and at some point, bells... whoa... finally I just had to ask. The guy said it was Paul Oakenfold, and a google search tells me that one of his albums, Journey by DJ 5, definitely has bells on one track. But god, I sure hope it's the right one, because there are like 45 hits on his popular music at amazon... it also looks like I should maybe get Tranceport as a "see if I'm into it" test.

Does anyone have advice or know of this guy? Yes, clearly he's a huge star-type DJ... bear with me, I'm a trance moron. :b I would be so excited if this worked out though. I was quite disappointed to find that, despite my liking Massive Attack's Mezzanine, I'm not into trip-hop. This liking one album from every sub-genre just can't go on though...

Sell your soul?

Hehe, another one I can suck into the flock. I have all sorts of recommendations - some of oakenfold's stuff is pretty good. By no means go just on the bells sample though - that's sort of thing is kind of widely used.

The best trance cd ever is trance nation volume 2 but you can only special order it. :(

I'll put together some more recommendations tomorrow after putting some thought into it.

I'm an Oakenfold fan. I've heard some random stuff at clubs that is pretty good. The only album that I have experience with (and I like it) is 'Perfecto Presents Another World'
