FO #2, the disco tee

The disco tee is finished. It didn't come out exactly as I had planned, but it's nice enough to wear:





And I took gratuitous sexy pictures of my chain mail dress while I was at it.





I've been so spazzed and now I'm just not. That large, famous search company isn't really the opportunity of the decade (if nothing else, I could always try again next year). However, they're the opportunity of the season, and their decision will have a huge effect on how my season goes. Ideally I'll take 2 weeks off in September between jobs... and that sounds like a dream, almost as important as getting the new job itself. I feel so unrested.

I don't know what you had planned, but it looks great!! I dragged out my knitting stuff, but I somehow am not sure it's really going to happen.

Thanks! Mostly, the sleeves got pulled upward to be shorter than I intended. (That's because I knitted it in the round all the way up... could have added short-row shaping at the shoulders but I didn't figure that out in time.)

What do you knit, when you knit? Despite the current shininess, I'm mostly interested in sweaters with cables.

What am I knitting now? At the moment, I've been casting on a row, trying to remember my grandmother's instructions, cursing, and giving up in disgust. It's a delightful process.

I'd like to make the cable-y sweaters, too.

What I somehow forgot to say in the post is that they're not going to meet to decide about me until next week, and that is why I felt deflated.

The disco shirt looks neat. What yarn/pattern is it? When I first saw the pictures I actually didn't think it was knitted. A zoomed in pic would be awesome.

Even if that company's decision turns out to be no, you can always take two weeks off anyway. I've started taking 2-3 week unpaid breaks from work these past few years, and it's awesome.

The yarn is polyamide "ladder" ribbon yarn called Mega. No pattern; I just measured myself, and increased and decreased as seemed appropriate.

I had that on my knitting blog a while ago... policy so far is that this blog will only get FO posts, since I don't assume my friends here care much about knitting, but maybe with each FO I can link to blogspot posts related to the project or something.

You have such a good point about taking time off anyway. Apparently the unpaid time thing is kind of hard to do at Colubrid, but that would be my boss's headache, not mine. ;)

Good luck on the offer. :) I know how much it sucks when things aren't moving all that fast. It's the waiting that I hated. And I'd second the "take time off regardless" comment - it's worth it to recharge.

Thanks, dahlin. I think you ain't seen nothin' yet. This was intended to be a warmup... I think I'm probably going to be good.

It's nice to at least know when I'm waiting until. I can chill until that day and then spazz again. :)
