Wondrous things

It's pretty funny that I posted about yoga yesterday, because what should happen tonight but this:

Yep, those are my hands, firmly pressing together. (In this picture the bases of my index fingers are, I think, not touching, but they were in class.) I'm in complete disbelief, having not been aware of any shoulder/wrist progress lately. I've never been able to do this before. Either it's some freak thing that won't happen again for a year, or I have joined the ranks of the reverse namaste-ers! Perhaps it was the relaxing effects of helping [livejournal.com profile] bluechromis move boxes last night. :)

I also wanted to share this link to Pete Goldlust's carved crayon page. The time, precision and skill that went into these tiny sculptures is incredible.

Lastly, my favorite new made-up word is "sweateronormative." It comes from the land of knit-blogging. As in, geez, that magazine is so sweateronormative! 90% of the damn patterns are for sweaters. As a sock knitter I really feel left out. I think this is hilarious and brilliant, and we should all work together to get it added to the dictionary.

Very cool- congratulations!! =)

(Incidentally, I love the fact that we posted simultaneously about wondrous things.)

man look at those puckers in your shoulderblades! fascinating! do everybody's do that?

i'm pretty sure i've always been able to do the reverse namaste (not surprisingly, thanks, lax shoulders) but right now it hurts my wrists. probably a sign of too much computers and not enough acrobatics.

haha, i had to go look in the mirror! (well, two mirrors, b/c i can't swivel my head 180 degrees like a cat.) mine don't do that. i have very small dips in the same place and bigger ones closer to the tops of my shoulder blades. neat.

Oh msn, I can't even tell you how far I am from being able to do that. Glad helping me move got you there though. ;-)

EEEEEWWWW, I referenced MSN...even by accident that's gross.

That's really an incredible amount of flexibility you've gained there.

I don't know if it's because I'm a big girl with thick arms, tight shoulders, or a combination of the two, but Cow Face, Reverse Namaste and Eagle arms feel impossible to me. Maybe I should take pictures to compare. I'd been planning on taking yoga pics this month, chubby-be-damned, but I've been flaring like a madwoman, and except for three days after the Bowditch workshop, I've been hurting.

Yowza! Very impressive! I liked the crayon sculptures, too. They remind me a little of the Buddhist sand paintings.
