Fidgeting

Do you fidget? Here on metafilter is a great post, with 25 quality replies, on what a person can do with their restless hands.

I never really saw it as a problem until recently when the only thing around to fiddle with was a steak knife. I wasn't alone or else it probably wouldn't have been an issue. Also if I hadn't been staring into space while rotating it in my hands.

*snerk*

Anyway, the comments lead to all kinds of great places, like Pentrix.com for pen-spinning tricks. And yes, knitting is mentioned... one of the guys on Ravelry apparently took up the craft in response to this.

I've been spinning my pens around my thumb since high school, when the kids on the debate team started doing it and I was determined to learn it too. I never thought of it as a form of contact juggling, but of course it is.

Cool, I totally have to check this out! The nail/cuticle-biting is getting a little out of hand... a fidget that doesn't make me bleed would be a nice change :)

OK, I checked out that post. It was filled with great ideas! I think I like the silly putty idea best of all. Just have to resist the urge to pop it.
