Forgot to mention that I got my mom a nice b-day present yesterday, but I did. And now it is mailed, and HLM and I filed intentions of marriage at the courthouse this morning (it's official--he'll be keeping his last name. I figured as much). They gave us a so-called newlywed kit consisting of free samples and a few coupons--the funniest is Pepto-Bismol "for heartburn, diarrhea, nausea, indigestion and upset stomachs." I guess they figure we're in for it!

And now... back to my zillion things to do. The software acted up wildly on Friday and I decided to sacrifice today for the sake of the nice weekend. Time to pay the piper.

*peers* I don't recall ever hearing about HLM ever consider taking your name? or did I miss something? Are you taking his or keeping yours?

I changed my last (and middle) name in '01 for several reasons not related to marriage. I didn't want to deal with that twice, so (since I rather suspected I'd end up marrying HLM) I involved him in the decision and switched to something he said he would consider changing to if and when we did get married.

I really dunno why he doesn't want to switch since his last name is 14 letters and hard to pronounce/spell, and my shiny new one is only 4 (and is nice). It doesn't matter though... it's his choice, and lots of couples don't bother matching last names anymore anyway.
