Piking up

I seriously thought about ditching acro tonight in favor of drinking on my couch and listening to the rain, but I'm glad I didn't, because guess who did an unassisted pike-up to handstand for the first time tonight? Yep, me. People were doing an entrance with a little bit of momentum, kind of rocking back and forth a bit with hands an inch or two above the ground, then leaning into the hands and piking up. I did it this way too. It wasn't all that hard. It felt... floaty. Also quite beautiful. I did several more. :)

It's funny how the handstand press seems like a mountaintop to climb toward, but it's all the tiny awesome things that happen along the way that make it seem worthwhile. Truth to tell, there are lots of handstand tricks I'd like to get.

Also, there was a new guy tonight who was super impressed with my back walkover, and wanted to know WHAT IS THAT THING AND HOW DOES IT WORK. Lastly, I got to demonstrate Catherine Wheel for the class. Flying. I didn't quite successfully base it later, but really close, and I got the hard transition.
