Public Service Announcement: yes, it IS now possible to give a Kindle Edition of a book as a gift. Here's how.
You can schedule it to be delivered on a certain day, you can have it electronically delivered or print out the email for in-person presentation, etc. I totally would have expected all this to be possible from the beginning, but apparently it took them a while to implement this, and 2011 is the first holiday season since they did.
