There's a contortion class in town?
Then today I was deliciously stretchy, but weak, and took it as easy as possible in class. I did the standing foot-to-hand lift briefly and went way high, but Scooper didn't quite stick it so I didn't get to feel the "bubble on the sea" illusion (rats). Honestly though, I just wanted to give and get many hugs, which I did. Feeling emotional. :-/ Now in an Epsom salt bath and more than ready to turn off my brain.
One awesome thing though. I learned there's a beginning contortion class at one of the aerial places in town, and thanks to those nascent left splits, I just barely qualify to take it. :-) If I switch handbalancing to Mondays for the next NCS session, I could be contorting in about two months. Seems worth trying! If anyone in town is reading this who thinks they could have one of the 3 splits in two months' time, I'd love to have company. I think they're asking $190 for 8 classes, which is a bit steep for stretching, but workable.

I don't have the strength (or I would have if my knee hadn't done what it did), but I certainly could get the splits in 2 months' time, no problem. Only, the knee thing. Will they offer this again?? $190 seems very affordable to me.

This place is on an 8-week cycle, just like Nearby Circus School, and as far as I can tell they offer it every session.

This class is for the student who already has above-average flexibility, and wants to learn basic contortion/acro poses and develop greater control and depth of flexibility. Register by permission of instructor, or meet ALL of the following pre-requisites: full 10 second bridge, 30 second forearm plank, and at least one full ground split (front or side).

Not a session class, but we are offering a contortion workshop at the end of October. I know October is a very full month for acro, but on the off chance you're interested *and* in town: https://eshaerialarts.zenplanner.com/zenplanner/portal/event.cfm?eventId=418C0444-11A6-4DD3-AF95-943698A3F90F

And that's really cool news about your workshop! Oct 26-28 is the long Niko workshop, but times aren't set yet, so we'll see. I'd love to attend, but will prioritize Niko if there's a conflict. Those prereqs are brutal though... I might have to really work to get "backbend with chest against wall, legs straight, feet together" in time.

It's true, the pre-reqs for Tracy's workshop are pretty intense - and these are scaled back from the original draft! But that's what makes it contortion, versus more conventional flexibility training.
