A nice little chore for this weekend

With the company's new fiscal year, the $500/year they give us for personal spending on geek equipment is restored. For the first time, we are being allowed to use that $500 toward office chairs--and oh, how sweet the thought of a cheap, really good chair! So it's time to go shopping.

I think I'll be deciding between the Aeron B and the newer Mirra.

Aeron

I have an Aeron and I love it. So configurable, and the mesh fits so well to the body ... I take the lumbar support thing off completely though, because I find the chair has enough support without it, and I can only take it for about an hour before it starts digging into my back with it.

The Mirra definitely looks cool though.

I'll be in my office late tonight, till 4 tomorrow, and at some points on Saturday and Sunday ... feel free to drop by.

I so want to get an Aeron at home.

Forget trying to dream that I'll get anything at work. Not possible. We only work to put yet another Lexus SUV or Mercedes in the parking lot for the upper echlons, nothing for us.

Nope... work isn't worthy of my spiffy chair...

What.. and maybe get fired one day and suddenly there's a discussion of where the chair originally came from as you're wheeling it out the door? No way. When I get fired, I want to travel light as possible, hell, I keep a pair of cheap headphones at work that I don't care about. I have a .bat script already to go to quickly un-install everything that's mine, etc.

:)

Can you tell I work in a hostile environment?

*nods*.. I check my email from home at work too, but I leave the "Leave on server" option checked. Yes, this means I have to wade through the same junkmail twice a day, but thunderboid (http://www.mozilla.org/) (bottom left) is usually pretty good about canning them before I see them.

There's only a handful of programs on my machine now that I wouldn't want work to get, but.. *shrugs* I'm ready.

Personally I wish it didn't have to be this way. I'm fiercely loyal to a company to the end, but only if it's worth being loyal too. I was loyal to MetalSite for 3 years before I realized that it was a sinking ship and I needed to start swimming or drown with the rats.

.bat scripts

I had one of those at my last job. Quit. Ran the script. Decided to stay. Regretted I had to get all the stuff back from the outside world, but did it. Then quit for real and had to run it again. :-)

One more thing...

I do spend enough time in front of the computer when I'm at home, so the chair would be good to have at home as well.

Looks very pimp.
