Something that rhymes with "honey"...

How utterly sweeeeeet... I just got my bonus and it's for more than last year's. It is, in fact, exactly the amount I'd been hoping for, the amount that pretty well cancels out my half of the wedding expenses. And that makes today one hell of a rockin' day, since I had just wheeled in the new Aeron about 10 mins before my boss came in with the check. :) So of course it will go toward the condo-savings, with an option open for backsliding if we decide to buy half a mattress with part of it. (Our current mattress is utterly done for, and we can never turn it again because the side that's on the floor smells nastily of Febreze and cat pee.) Anyway, I feel rich now, yes I do.

Brief aside and/or vent here, again mostly for newer readers since some of you know all this: why, [livejournal.com profile] soyfetus, do you talk about money the way you do--don't you know it's impolite, especially when you're happy about money-stuff? Don't you know some people can't afford to save and have retirement funds? Well, kind of, and so I don't talk about specific amounts... but I think there's basically an epidemic of lousy money management going on today because people don't talk about money very openly. It's gotten all balled up with self-esteem and shame and "success" and so people don't ask about (or learn) the basics. This trend is all bad and I'm trying to go the other way--who knows, maybe someday I'll persuade someone to start saving who isn't already, and help make money a positive force instead of a negative one in their lives. Maybe it'll help the world become a more open place in general. Also, I grew up really poor, and I work really hard, and if I do have money in the bank now, it consists of all the toys & clothes & airline tickets and everything else I didn't buy and don't have. I'm not rich at all (except compared to my parents & me when I was a kid)... I'm just a little baby dragon curled around its tiny pile of gold going mine! mine!. So I sing my little song of savings half in celebration and half in hopes that it helps someone sometime. That's all. *warble warble* And you didn't even know baby dragons could sing, did you.

On another note, my right wrist and my tailbone both hurt today, a lot, for no reason. What, what brought this on, huh? Did I spend all night thwacking my coccyx with my hand as I slept?

Congrats

Congrats Congrats Congrats! That's awesome.

The new mattress sounds like the way to go ... if you sleep better, you'll be more awake during the day, and you can work more effectively, and make a bigger bonus, and therefore have more money for the condo!
