Eyelid musings

Have you ever spent time just looking at people's eyelids? They are naturally shiny and pearlescent. Most are pink and gold/brown; my manager's actually have a hint of green. No wonder most eyeshadows are shiny. Maybe if you want to enhance an eyelid while retaining its essential nature, shiny is a more natural idea than matte.

(Yes, I have been mentally applying eyeshadow to men. Sue me. I have been in a lot of meetings this week, and I work in tech.)

MAC has an awesome array of eyeshadow colors, and of fanatic followers who write blog posts (here, here, here) on the best shadows for blue eyes. I'm making lists. It's quite relaxing to look at all the colors, like shopping for yarn or paint.

There are also blog posts and tutorials on eye makeup for hooded eyes! Oh hey! I've never, ever applied eyeshadow beyond the crease... but it makes sense that I maybe ought to, if I want more of it to show than the 3mm of lid I seem to have visible with my eyes open normally.

i went through a period of compulsively assessing people's ears for how they could best be complemented by piercings. but eyelids i have never noticed! i love this!
i don't have patience to learn about makeup online but i really want to take a course or lesson in applying stage makeup.

I love eyeshadow. So much. I love makeup in general but especially eyeshadow. I love the bold wonderful colors for performance and for that Makeup Forever trumps MAC. Its wonderfully pigmented and goes so nicely. For bright circusy colors I've fallen in love with Sugarpill, I got my hands on their Pro Palette (http://glittergirlc.com/2013/07/24/sugarpill-limited-edition-sale-d/1001065_10151682828020189_1944863015_n/) and I'm living for their amazing colors that go on so beautifully.

Besides performance, because I love it so much, I still wear eyeshadow pretty much everyday. I've been using Smashbox's Master Palette for the last two years. It has lasted such a long time and it has a great variety of colors both in matte and shimmer. The palette still has a lot of life in it but I've been wanting to change it up and invest in a new palette though. I'm thinking maybe Lorac's PRO Palette (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4500053) but am still undecided. I know there are a lot of MAC fanatics out there but I think now Makeup Forever has the superior eyeshadow. That could be why its $5 more per shadow than MAC lol. Also, Maekup Forever's Star Powder, their loose shimmer powder, is a lot of fun. If you find yourself at Sephora definitely test them out.

Ohhhh makeup, I can keep babbling on and on about it but I'll stop now ;)
