Look at me, I'm an illionaire!

Written on Wednesday night:

I haven't been this sick for a long time... five solid days of stay-at-home sick, with decreasing amounts of sleep needed and gradually decreasing symptoms. (So very gradual. Ugh.)

From my current perspective, the stuff I usually do on a daily basis is AMAZING. The miles walked! The working out! The high level brain function! I mean, today I feel better than I have in five days and I'm basically just happy that my snot is almost clear. The next couple of weeks are going to be quite the slog, getting back into the swing of things, and that's assuming the best case -- that I feel approximately normal in a couple more days. I am going to be heavy on the self-care for weeks, too, though, and when I get caught up is when I get caught up.

Being sick makes me chill out. All my usual goals seem like something from another universe, and my usual worries feel too abstract to focus on. It'd be nice if I could get this sort of break from ambition and fretfulness without the misery... maybe some drug or other would do it.

Arggh, I'm sorry you're sick too.

My usual pattern when I'm sick is to feel really emotionally miserable on something like the last day or two, because I'm better so I should be able to do everything, but I can't :-J. I'm glad you sound like you're dodging that; probably better self-modeling.

The stuff you do on a daily basis IS amazing. But yes, it would be nice to find the break without the misery.
