From the weekend
I'll try to write some words, but I feel all I'm really emitting is a sort of tired hissing like a steam kettle on its last few drops of water.
Ssssssssss.
This week's Robot Hugs was pretty close to home.
I didn't do too well at circus or basic life togetherness, this week. Work involved a lot of late nights, with performance review season in full swing; I wrote carefully worded reviews for peers who are up for promo (at the office until 11:15 on Tuesday night), and helped my new sub-manager and my less new ones get ready for the big meeting next week in which we grade everyone. The workplace seating people also dropped news about moving my team to a different part of the building on Monday night, and OH NOEZ it turned out my people did not want to move! They did not like green eggs and ham, they did not like them Manager Ma'am. So I chatted some directors and wheedled, and showed up to the seating people's office hours saying "I'm here on behalf of my whiny, entitled team... yeah... they're mine and I love them so hear me out." On Thursday a new plan was sent out and we are not moving.
We got the custom cushions to match our new Metro-sectional couch, well ahead of the actual couch. They are plain and show no sign of being hella expensive, but they were. This may in fact have been our wedding anniversary present -- that happened too, and we ended up almost blowing it off, because we couldn't find crystal presents we liked and then I was too stressed for a fancy date. It's fine though, because we still like being married and we did confirm that. 15 years.
Poly stuff is not paradise. I got blocked this weekend on just a friendly hangout because Lioness objected to my asking for it (demands for time seem too girlfriend-y to her), and maybe the frequency of my seeing Lion (which was lower than usual this week, but who's counting?). In the end I chatted with him briefly, not in a fun way, and I sent him home to see whether our current situation is essentially okay or if something needs to change. Maybe I need some new friends, ones who are actually allowed to see me.
Good workouts this weekend and a nice poly-discussion evening, and I'm supposedly ready to face a new week. Hahaha, very funny, universe.

For what it's worth I actually snorted out loud at this one and the whiny entitled team. I hate moving, too, and have some sympathies with them on that. OTOH, that much late nights has to wear anyone out. Much much sympathies for you on that.

(And yes, That Time Of Year Again is as much fun as ever.)
Much sympathy all around on a rough week and weekend. I hope things get better for you soon.

(A recent thread at work about executive function made me realize that I also may simply be better at focusing, now, under whatever circumstances, than I used to be. So that's interesting.)

yay anniversaries even if you don't celebrate them at the time.
