Cozy continuance
A lot of things are continuing along fairly cozy paths. In a few cases I wish things would stop "continuing" and start "really getting somewhere", but in the meantime a simple lack of unpleasantness is definitely doing me good.
- I did a short workweek, and took Thursday and Friday off (I may need to nibble down my vacation balance in order to take the longer personal leave I'm trying to take). I used some of the time to help Perse and Helios pack, about 4 boxes of kitchen stuff and then a lot of books. And I used some of the time to work out, and be social with
apfelsingail, and work out some more. - I was effective in my short week: successfully hired an exceedingly qualified person who I know well, officially submitted my request for personal leave, and officially submitted a staffing request for headcount for a real team. We'll see what the execs think of all that.
- The bug and I got rid of two big garbage bags and two shopping bags full of miscellaneous stuff, a combination of a Goodwill trip and my deciding to get rid of all our 20-year-old pillows (ew). Amusingly this was partly kicked off by Perse asking me if I'm "good at being a minimalist", to which I said yes, but then realized that I hadn't exercised my powers in a while. It always feels better when I have. Ironically I'm still on a clothes-shopping kick, so... more room for new stuff from Nomads, it seems.
- Helios and I went to a nearby smash room on Saturday and spent 25 minutes destroying things. Yes, with sledgehammers and baseball bats. It was good clean fun; they provided smashables, face shields, gloves and hitting implements. And now I know that glass can, under the right circumstances, splash.
- This week was National Coming Out Day, so I did a "hey, for the record I'm poly" post on internal social media at Zillian -- it didn't feel like a big deal but maybe it was? Certainly it's something I always intended to do after achieving FYM, so now I have. Then later in the week was my 14th anniversary of being hired so that was a thing too.
- My fiction reading was feeling kind of stuck, and I finally figured out that I'm in the mood for horror. It is spooky szn after all! Starting Malorie now.
