Kibbles 'n' bits, 'n' bits, 'n' bullets

* I am such a bad bad bad tae twon do student. Bad! I started skipping it last week right about the time I hit the "rest now or get sick" point, and I didn't go back until this morning. I was going back last night, but time slipped away from me and I would have been late, which is not the best thing to do after missing a while. Much better to get there early and stretch out... or so I told myself. It's so hard to get back into cardio after a slip. Ugh.

* And, hmmmm. We have bathroom stuff in at Expo and we can't seem to rent a van to go pick it up this weekend. All the rental-van places are sold out far in advance (apparently the students are showing up for the fall already). A station wagon or even decent-sized car would do the trick, but all the rental-car places are closed on Sundays and only open for like 3 hours on Saturdays. Huh? Don't people rent cars for the weekend? Something I thought was a small chore is turning into a real obstacle. :/ HLM may have to do it without my help during the week.

* And, double hmmm, I just trashed two of my nice new shirts in the wash when a pink Chapstick got into the load somehow. Goddamn it, I know I said I'd be more open to clothes passing in and out of my life, but the old stuff's supposed to die before the new stuff! Argh! Now I have to go back to Old Navy and buy the same damn things again. (I already managed to replace my ruined orange Green Eggs and Ham T-shirt with a pink Cat in the Hat one though, thanks to a nice surprise find at Newbury Comics.)

* I'm almost done reading Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and since I know how it ends you could pretty much say I've read it. Parts of it are so strange... like the thought that a rape victim wouldn't be worthy of marriage. Such a good thing that thoughts like that have mostly passed from society! And parts of it are so familiar, like the feeling of dread when your appearance is clearly about to make another person act in bizarre and unwanted ways when all you wanted was nothing at all. Anyone, especially any man, who thinks women always want male advances should read this one.

* I still get sticker shock when I see jeans that cost over $100, which seems to happen more and more often. I see it as almost inevitable now that someday I'll buy a pair that costs that... I've already succumbed to that price point on shoes. Still, let that day not come soon, please. It still seems ridiculous.

* Almost forgot--I've been trying that compartmentalization thing a little more consciously, and was able to sleep 9.5 hours last night. True, it made me lethargic today. But still, I've been trying to do that. So it's good.

What about the airport car rental offices?

We have cars...

You're welcome to them! I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier, so as to be able to help you for this weekend, but if you still need it. Also - home depots rent trucks. They are by the mile though, so can be kind of expensive.
