Unfair

I had a dream that I was getting fired at the 2-month point. My boss was all I have to do what's right for the team and I was like but sir, I felt like I was doing okay and it sucked.

Subconscious... damn you. That was undeserved, unkind and unwarranted!

*nods sagely* Classic anxiety dreams, both of 'em. The nasty li'l fuckers.

When I actually saw my boss today he was bouncing down the hall with a plastic fork held in his mouth (around which he smiled and said hi). Made it much harder to keep thinking in dream-terms.

Haha - yeah, that's a good sort of image to replace dreamland. I was thinking of anxiety like that, though, when you talked about them firing that other guy. It's gotta be tough, I really haven't worked anywhere anyone actually got fired.

Yeah, the Frog definitely does fire people based on performance, and it is a definite anxiety source. I don't intend to keep working 10-hour days forever to avoid the same fate, but I do need to figure out where the line is. And stay above it. :/ They fired one guy at DSB once, and it was freaky, but also a total anomaly, a very specific problem that was not likely to occur with anyone else.

Perspective though... it could be FAR worse. I rode the bus home yesterday with a woman who works on the 2nd floor of our building--she's worked at her company for 3.5 years and seen layoffs happen EVERY QUARTER, watching her company shrink from 1600+ to 300+. Worse than that, she's waiting for her green card to come through--so she knows she has to survive another 1.5 years there, or go back to Venezuela, or start all over at another company. Talk about ugh. I felt like quite the petty whiner after talking to her.
