Well, what I dreamed last night (and as I tried to post about this morning but my stupid laptop rebooted and ate it) was that high schools could impose the death penalty on troublemakers if they broke the rules badly enough... by majority vote of the students. Yipes. And I dreamed I was friends with some bad boy who was sentenced to death. Even I voted "guilty," so whatever he did must have been pretty bad. Then I was chosen as the last of the four people who would walk out into the fields with him somewhere and shoot him, and I was walking next to him saying I was glad at least he had a friend to be with for the last few minutes... but never did I dream of not following the rules. After he was dead I ran into CW, a girl from my high school, who led me along a spooky winding path toward what I'm pretty sure was the Stanford campus. And some other time during the night I was in someone else's house fighting off invaders with a fire poker. I knocked at least one woman unconscious, but somehow they took me prisoner anyway...
Aggggh. Wake up, wake up now.
Waking life is much better than it was earlier this week. It's mostly due to stupid little things like the bread machine starting to make a more breadlike substance, finding time to go to the Boston Public Library last night, getting unstuck at work, and having a surprise lunch with
bluechromis. But to the extent that the meaning of life is to enjoy life, so what? The little things matter plenty.
It turns out Sims 2 actually plays okay on HLM's computer (though with a lot of the good graphics options turned off). We've taken utterly different approaches to the game--I leapt into realtime play with a premade family so I wouldn't care too much if I messed up, and he has spent hours creating Sims (and learning to put custom designs on their shirts, etc) without once actually playing the game. Heh. It may be a good thing I can't have his computer all the time, because I'm ITCHING to get going on the multigenerational stuff. I haven't had Sim-sex yet so I don't know if you can choose to use birth control or not, but I plan to get a Sim pregnant as soon as possible. Because gene mixing is cool... the bomb, even... and in the Sims you can mute the little fuckers if they get on your nerves. :D I hope to have lots of time to breed over the long Thanksgiving weekend. And you can quote me.
And now my book is calling. David Gerrold is the bomb too... god, he is so much better at writing juvenile SF than that other writer who always gets all the credit for the same thing. This trilogy is a blast, and I'm in the mood for it. Oh, and
miyyu, I also picked up White as Snow from the library while I was there. I'll let you know what I think when I've read it.

Date: 2004-11-18 05:15 pm (UTC)I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the 'somehow' was because you didn't knock them all unconscious. :-) Funky dream!
Glad this week is turning around for you.
