It won't surprise you (in fact, it will more likely bore you to tears) to hear that I spent part of the weekend trying to squirm deeper into GTD. The biggest decision I had to make was what to carry around with me all the time to record the random to-dos that pop into my head. Paper notebook? Hipster PDA? Actual PDA? Well, I've said many times that I love this city because, if there are only a few of something in the country, one of them tends to be in Boston; this turns out to be true of Palm retail outlets, just like it's true of passport offices. After a while of playing with a Palm Z22, and hassling the retail kids with questions they couldn't answer about how to write software for the thing, I bought one. Reasons it won out over paper:
So there we are. New toy.
I recently wrote to my first boyfriend ever, and he wrote back today and was glad to hear from me. That feels good, like a cool hand on my forehead. I've spent the weekend running around like a crazed monkey, so it's nice to stop and just remember that people who have known me for a long, long time still like me and approve of me. I could say a lot here, now, but most of it would come out wrong, and the whole point is only that I feel happy and peaceful about something... so I'll just say that.
- Cute; Grafiti 2 is fun; satisfying to hear tiny click when touched with stylus
- Backed up to computer, so if it ever vaporizes or is stolen, I can buy a new one and get my life back with a single hot sync
- Can download MBTA maps and schedules
- Can play Bejeweled on it
- David Allen himself uses one, so it can't suck too badly, right?
- Most importantly for GTD, it's pretty easy to move an item from one to-do list to another.
