It's official...
Aug. 1st, 2003 11:03 amMy raise is late. This happens every freakin' year... ( this is how raises work at my company ) Almost every year I've raised some fuss and told the HR head just how incredibly unprofessional I think all this is. I mean, it's the one thing the big boss owes us peons on any kind of schedule, and he can't even do that? And can't relinquish his microcontrolling freakitude enough to let the next managers down deal with it (a rule that keeps fluctuating, but I've never landed on the right side of it)? Arrrrrrgh! It makes me want to smash something. Anyway, last year I had things on my mind besides the raise, and I was calm and didn't make a fuss, and guess when I got my raise, finally? The end of December. That's right, slightly over six months late. The horror, the fury.
So, this year I again will not fuss, but I will change my savings to simply save $100/month less, effectively giving myself a goddamn raise. When I get my real raise I can consider changing it back. Unfortunately, the online services of my bank are down this morning and won't let me modify the recurring transaction, or I'd've done it already.
Well, I found out yesterday that I have a lot more work to do than I'd been hoping--whee, it's getting worse! So right now might be a killer time to get going on that. I hope to write some haiku later today, though, and will share. :)
