Gift ideas for people who have everything
Nov. 6th, 2005 08:46 pmAlthough as usual I'm the first to take note of it, Christmas is coming. (I scared about three people today by calling them to discuss various gift ideas.) Which means it's time once again to face a common problem: some people have everything, and some other people are actively trying not to collect more physical objects. This is a place to list ideas for those people, especially since I had a stellar new idea today that totally solves my very worst problem this year.
That last one was today's stroke of brilliance, inspired by a beaded wine-bottle cover at Pier 1. So...? What do you give those people? Make it good and I'll mark this post as a memory so we can all find it again in December.
- Tickets to local events
- Magazine subscriptions. Almost everyone likes at least one magazine.
- Food (Starbucks cards; restaurant gift certificates; baskets of food from Trader Joe's; a good recipe wrapped up with the harder-to-find ingredients).
- iTunes gift certificates
- If they blog, extra userpics or extra paid time from the LJ gift shop
- For the Martha Stewart on your list: extra-nice gift wrapping supplies (must be given early)
- Christmas cards or thank-you notes (works especially well on your mother, if she's a thank-you note freak)
