Oh, YAY for the amazing jewelers at Tiffany's. I was too upset last week to write the details of what was happening to my ring, but they were going to buff/smooth it for free and see how that came out. The remounting would then be done if the smoothing wasn't enough, which they thought it wouldn't be. But I finally went back today (after a failed attempt on Tuesday), and the smoothing worked beautifully! I don't know what they do... perhaps they go at it with an extremely hot, miniature blow-drier so the surface layers can melt and flow back together? Anyway, the surface is just barely ripply where the really bad damage was, and the jeweler said it would be a waste of money to remount it now. Yay, I just saved $550, I just saved $550, and my ring is home again. I was all bitter and tired before that, having spent 6 hours on an evil bug that arose during a supposedly simple port of a feature from one branch to another. But I find that my mood has lifted considerably. :)

Still pretty zonked though. Perhaps now for some tea and a snack and bed. I did take the time to get [livejournal.com profile] childfree30plus off my friends page though... it was just getting too active for daily reading. Now 16 of the 25 entries on my page are [livejournal.com profile] savage_rose. Ha.
