Abstracts from between Harvard and Porter
May. 7th, 2006 10:54 pmThere's a tree right on Mass Ave whose roots I always stop and look at. Saturday I finally got around to taking pictures of it, and of a few other things between my place and Harvard Square.
I find that, aside from self-portraits and the fact that I'm dying to try photomontage, I really lean toward abstract photography. My idea of an ideal reaction to one of my pictures is wow, that's really cool. Um, what is that? Oh wait, it's a ------. But I'm not that good -- the real reason for me to take pictures is the way I feel when I'm on a walk and really being aware of the visual things around me because I'm looking for patterns and images. I miss the way that, when I used to draw a lot, I would see all the lines and the negative space in the scenes around me. I want some of that back.
