And now we are thirty-one
Jun. 9th, 2008 08:27 pmLast week ended up being a shockingly great week at work. Productivity is good. The weekend was a bit of this and that... where "this" was birthday stuff and "that" was MIT reunion activities. The latter was pretty anticlimactic. Turnout was low, I was dressed appropriately, and I didn't see any long-lost friends or the one person I was hoping not to see. One of my classmates, who I didn't know in college, turns out to be responsible for the design of the meltaway center in the new Hershey's Bliss product.
As for my birthday, yes, it was yesterday and I am 31.
heisenbug gave me this awesome serononin molecule necklacehe knew I wanted, and I taught
dr_alycat how to knit. It was all pretty peaceful. I'm sure I'll be looking back on it wistfully all week, because this week I'm carrying a pager for work. I skipped yoga -- not only was I feeling overheated and tired, I kind of really hate going to yoga with the pager. I have to tell the teacher I essentially have a cell phone I'm not turning off, then hide out in the back of the studio keeping an ear open and feeling like I'll disrupt class (not to mention my own nice little flow) if it goes off. Yech. It's cooler now; maybe a late-evening Bally's trip can still happen.
Meanwhile, on the escapist reading front, I read Kabuki: Skin Deep and it only made me need to read the next one, Metamorphosis. So that's annoying yet good at the same time. I also noticed today that Kushiel's Mercy has been published, in hardcover... can Kushiel's Justice be far from paperback now? I've been waiting with throbbing... um, heart... for ages now. And hey, holy crap, Amazon does have it in paperback. Woot! I'll try to wait until the local bookstore gets it, but w0000000t!
