For those of you who don't know, Sept 1 is when the vast majority of apartment leases begin in Boston. As the streets filled up with U-Hauls, Ryder trucks and piles of people's crap this weekend, it was a lovely time to not be moving. Nesting was in the air, though, and I did fall prey to a bit of home improvement.
Bedroom on Saturday morning:

Bedroom as of Sunday night, with a storage headboard and new light fixture!

It was fun, for the most part -- I love putting together flat-packed furniture with a screwdriver and hammer. I think
heisenbug got pretty tired of working on the wiring light fixture though. He doesn't seem to get as much satisfaction out of fixing up our home as I do (which is something I know I shouldn't take personally. Sometimes I do, but really, if we both had a nesting urge like mine, the whole place would be lined with feathers by now). It was good he was there, though. I got the wiring wrong the first time and would have gotten it wrong again if he hadn't sensibly drawn up a circuit.
We cut away little bits on the bottom of the headboard thing so that it could fit over the molding and lie snugly against the wall. The next step is to buy cute little reading lights that match, but in the meantime we've already got a good way to sit up in bed and have good light coming in over our shoulders. Yay for nesting. :)
