Thursday night's appreciation fail may have been hormonally influenced; I just got my period, which I last did the day after we've moved in here. Yes, it's been a whole month; yes, it's only been a month.

This weekend: more house stuff )

Sadly, I don't get to see [livejournal.com profile] heisenbug enough for a long time. He was on a business trip last week, and now is plunging into a musical whose prod week is this week. Shows are Friday and Saturday nights for the next two weekends, and the weekend after that I'll be in NYC for my idea of fun.

So I've been doing what lonely people do and focusing on work, which I was already doing with moderate intensity. Last week I spent a long time making it worse for myself: playing at politics, planning for my attempt at getting promotion this spring. It's basically all about math: it's all about finding people with such-and-such numerical job level who will support one's bid. I've been going around finding such people, and it feels like collecting Horcruxes or something (and just about as good for a person). So far I have two 6s, a 7 and a 9, as well as a manager and a PM whose levels don't matter as much. This should be pretty good... but, numbingly meaningless, isn't it? Integers. A numbers game. It doesn't strike me as entirely sane to spend so much time thinking about one increment of one integer, but it's part of something far more meaningful, which is finding sustainability at Zillian. Due to the way the levels are defined, I only have to win this particular game once. (Please let me play it well, let me win so I only have to play it once.)

UGH, do let me talk about something more cheerful: I worked out today in the Davis Square BSC and it was lovely. Good thing I wasn't there when it was actually light outside, or I might have signed up on the spot... they have a stretching area that isn't a joke, kettlebells, WINDOWS, dumbbells in increments of 2.5 pounds, and a location about four minutes from my house. Too bad I'm still prepaid at McGym for a while. That is a sunk cost, though, and it would be a classic logical fallacy to take it into account too much. :-)
