1) I figured out that the thing that hurts most is labeled as D on this diagram. It doesn't hurt near the thumb, just way down at the wrist.

After some internet searches, I've decided to try ultrasounding the tender area directly, and I've written to the acroyoga folks asking what their cancellation policy is for immersions -- even though I still have 10 days before the next immersion starts, and I'm hoping the irritation subsides by then, there are no guarantees. I don't really want to spend 5 days watching other people train handstands.

2) I've been buying clothes again lately. Looking for sleeveless shirts for the office that aren't strappy camis, yielding to an on-sale Prana top at CitySports where I went to buy a cold wrap for the wrist, finally ordering from pyramidcollection.com (if I like this dress I'll definitely one-out another dress). It's kind of indulgent, but not destructive.

3) I have a new favorite thing: iced green tea with sour cherry puree, as obtainable at Sofra. That place is sooooo expensive. And so tasty. I bet I could puree some cherries at home.

4) As for the wrist, I'm through the denial phase and ready to focus on other things for the duration. I just got back from the gym (boring cardio and a few pullups/dips), where I happened to read the last article of Bob Kennedy, who is the editor of Oxygen and who just died. He knew he was dying. His writing always annoyed me, but reading about his death in his own words was sad... and, perhaps cheesily, reminded me that I should do what I can do, rather than sulking over one small joint. This is, for example, a perfect time to work on my splits every day. Leg strength, straddle, core and back (even backbends) can all come out of this better than they are now. So, on with it... I just have to quiet that tiny little voice that says "what if I did something permanent?" And maybe get the thing checked out by a PT soon.

5) For the next 3-4 weeks (hopefully limited to that), I'm playing mercenary -- joining a different group at work that's on a sprint toward launching. A top-level exec has decided it's a good idea to specify a date for launching, and let this team grow as needed. It's now a howling vortex sucking in engineers, and looks like a fiasco. It sounded kinda fun, and the assignment fits into my upcoming permanent team switch while paying back a favor, so I decided to join in anyway.
