Have you ever picked up somebody's lost/forgotten item, and tried to give it back to them? Right now I have someone's Motorola Droid smartphone, and someone else's yoga mat, and both people have flaked out at least once so far on getting them back from me (after setting up a time/place). I realized today that I shouldn't really be surprised at this. When you pick up forgotten items, you are just more likely to be dealing with the flakes of the world, the kind of people who leave their phone sitting around in the first place. I will probably go on picking up lost gadgets, phones and mats, because these things can happen to anyone and I would want someone to pick up my lost phone and email me, but I will not be surprised anymore when things are not immediately and gratefully reclaimed. The flakes of the world are like that.
Also, I'd like my physical energy back. I feel like someone walked away with it on Friday or Saturday, and I'm missing workouts and dragging myself through stuff.
I ordered this shirt from Tshirt Hell (in raspberry) after going to see if they still had the incredibly offensive baby shirt saying "BILF", because I love the grumpy not-praying mantis:

In fact, that's becoming an LJ icon.
Finally, for what it's worth, I'm enjoying 7th Sigma. It's a sweetly paced book that pulls the reader right along, but not frantically so, with a solid main character and with the SF mainly providing backdrop. It reminds me of Spin in that way.
