The computers that are green turn to brown
Jun. 7th, 2015 12:34 pmTwo experiments are over.
1) Remember when I decided to completely stop my pulling exercises, in order (hopefully) to help retrain my scapulae to be less retracted for handstands? Welp, it's almost halfway through the year and I think I'm done with that. I'll never know if it worked, as far as changing my resting position, but it sure was awesome for losing pullup strength. I've reached the "I don't like it" point and will now reverse course.
2) Keeping computers for a long time. It's funny that I just posted about replacing my 4.5-year-old piece of shit desktop, because now it's stopped producing any video output. I've removed its shitty little CMOS battery, because that's what helped the same problem 3 years ago. I wouldn't even bother, except that there are a few recently-added files that didn't get backed up to my online backup service, and I might as well try. .. in the meantime, its replacement is now on the way. Smaller, cheaper and more powerful, and it can dock to the big monitor/keyboard or be carried around in my bag. From now on, no sentiment and no "but it still works" mentality. Computers don't last. All files I care about will be backed up, and new hardware is happening on every even-numbered birthday.
(Geez, it's sad though. That POS was the new shiny when I posted about it in 2010, twice. It was smaller, cheaper and more powerful and quieter than the POS before it, which was itself then five years old and, zomg, I posted about that too.)
