So today I went to the gym for straddles, then to the Local Circus School's open studio for ~2 hours of acro play, then (after a dinner break) did a 3-hour rehearsal for a human tower building gig.
I am still super liking working with Panther. We got in about an hour today, and we did at least three tricks that were new to both of us:
* Fly like an eagle. A little derpy... I think I flew like an eaglet.
* Pop from reverse bird to back flying -- we thought this would be scary as hell so we did it with safety lines, but it turns out the flyer has a lot of control. Next time we won't need lines.
* Pop from bird to throne (3/4 of a front flip). Yeah, we did that in lines too, and I got kicked in the face a little and it was totally surprising and awesome. Kip, flip and hope!
Human tower building, also good. it was the first of four or so rehearsals for a gig in late July, with four of the same people I did the same thing with back in 2010. It is hilarious how much better we are now -- or how much better this new group is than the old group, whichever. Our first three attempts went up and down cleanly, when we hadn't even planned on doing any builds tonight. (The fourth was buggy, and we called it and got down safely.)
I want to tell you about my date with
norwoodbridge, and how we saw naked magicians and I started to relax in some hard-to-describe way. More like remembering how to have a nice date, than anything, though those aren't the right words either. Whatever the right words are, it was fun to introduce Norwood to
taegubcrusade, and then I slept really well.
