heisenbug and I have been together for 1 0 1 0 0 = 20 years.
That... is a big round number, at least in base 10! Much round. Very 20. Wow. And yet, hitting us in the middle of a crazy week like that, we chose to keep our celebration minimal, and we went to Spoke for drinks and apps, and spent a while researching the oldest picture of the two of us together that we could find (we have two main contenders, both from 2001).
I asked the bug what his younger self would have thought, if he could have peeked through a portal and seen us sitting there. Would the younger him be startled (whoa, his haircut!), disappointed (ugh, we got older), or what? He said this is more or less what he wanted, so he'd be happy. Awww.
I've been feeling generally less romantic about life overall, as short-term urgency of work and cat care and life crap has been on the rise, but it's good to at least acknowledge these things. We can hopefully party harder another time -- and if not, it's okay, I still noticed this thing happening.
