A whole new metric for weirdness
May. 4th, 2019 11:29 amA deeply strange week, filled with the unexpected (both good and bad). I was short on sleep almost the whole time. I worked way too hard on Sunday due to accidentally scheduling two coaches back to back, and exhausted myself. I did not expect the thing in my last explicit post, I did not expect to get extra random time with both Norwood and Lion, I did not expect to spend 11+ hours on a videoconference call this Thurs and Fri because the summit I purposely skipped was expecting me to dial in (ugh... if this is my life now, please just shoot me). Nala had an episode in the night that was much like the one we took her to the emergency vet for, only this time it seemed more familiar and we just held her until it was over. There was poly weirdness that I did just middling-okay with. My mother called me and told me my last remaining grandparent has declined a lot in the last week and is now in hospice care, though this is not terribly sad -- at 97 he's still lucid, and ready to go with no particular regrets.
The mammograms came back with a phone call saying "we need more imaging, during business hours this time" and a letter saying I have dense breast tissue. Fine, but then it'd help if they answered their phone.
And I was going on to write about a work thing or two, but then realized I FORGOT about being stuck at home Wednesday morning with an active shooter in the square I live in. It started as a bank robbery -- they shut down the subway station while trying to apprehend the robber/shooter. So this is what it's come to: a week so strange that an armed robbery didn't even make my top ten events.
I'm so done.
