Okay, yes... to contradict myself from a couple of weeks ago, I am kind of stuck in amber. But that's the pandemic for you. My state is doing really well, and going into Phase 3 of reopening this coming week, even as cases spike across the South. But we citizens are slow and blinking and not ready for the light of more normal life, not in my circles anyway.

I busted my sewing machine last weekend, so finishing my T-shirt quilt is on pause for at least a couple of weeks; I sent the machine to the sewing machine hospital and put away all the sewing stuff. I visited [personal profile] norwoodbridge (who is in my bubble) and painted his kids' nails with this, which glows like dichroic glass in the right light. I'm doing my own now, and am soon to regret being out of nail polish remover.

I've involuntarily lost a little bit of weight but am doing well at backbends and handstands. I did another 1:30 hold in handstand class, and did my first chest stand (since 2013 or so) for a hot second on Thursday. It feels good to be improving at something, even if it's not the thing I care most about.

As for work, I got a 4-day weekend and have been doing one hour each day of email backlog. It's actually nice. An hour isn't enough to spoil the weekend feeling, and my exec coach explicitly wanted me to practice flipping in and out of "tactical" mode. This is that practice, and it's also burning down my backlog, which is great.

I finished reading So You Want to Talk About Race (serious, 4th-of-July relevant) and also Catherine House, which was deep and dreamy like Francesca Lia Block meeting Kazuo Ishiguro. Reading the latter on the couch this morning, with my second cup of coffee and the cats lounging around, I became self-consciously aware that I was forming a happy memory... exactly the kind of thing I'll look back on and say on Saturday mornings I used to.
