flexagon: (begin each day)
I'm laughing at the part where I showed up to to someone's end-of-year bonfire (OK, firepit) in sweats, a sweatshirt, and a black-sequined mask because what else do you do in the Winter of Covid on a night that would normally have been dressy? I burned printouts of an email from Lioness and a chat from Lion, and a blog post about my shitty boss and a cartoon of a brain-weasel saying the thing it says to me. Then Helios came out for a few minutes, and when he joked about throwing the whole damn year into the fire because the whole thing sucked, I said "Almost", and he agreed "Almost." Then I thought "hmm, was that too obvious?" before remembering that nobody's particularly keeping secrets, and it's 100% fine if we're obviously better friends than before and maybe have an in-joke. Because I don't live in bizarro-land anymore.

*shakes head*

Also the part where we did 3 virtual evening events in a row with the usual NYE crew, in place of our usual several-day slumber-party hangout. We opened presents on the first night, played Pandemic online on the 2nd night, and watched terrible movies on the third night. This is tradition and I am okay with it -- but don't watch either Blood Machines or Turbo Kid, just don't, unless you have a thing for manic pixie dream robots. And even then, really.

I'm back at work as of yesterday, but started with a visit to the dermatologist, because the things I went in for two months ago have not resolved. Came away with cortisone shots in my scalp for the alopecia spots, which we didn't bother with last time but apparently should have, and a prescription for more antibiotics and a new topical for the acne. The derm is moving to Florida at the end of the month, so I'll need to find somebody new if this next set of things doesn't work.

And six days into the new year I'm STILL working on my year-end training clips video -- turns out I had a whole lot of footage, it's just that most of it was taken in my office. There's also the irredeemable fact that long handstand holds are long. So I'm going to do some picture-in-picture or video grid stuff to shorten the whole thing by putting some of it in parallel.
