Back to work. Also, red white red red red.
Feb. 5th, 2022 02:34 pmWell, that was a week of work. Predictably, I had forgotten how to work/life balance and I also had lost track of what it feels like to have that many things tugging at my attention all day long. I missed the people. I did not miss things like leaving a mess in the kitchen in order to get to a meeting. And I did not miss the "blink and it's 5:00 and you haven't gotten any work done yet".
I missed some workouts, in both senses of that word. :(
Covid is better. With case rates having fallen back down out of Extreme into Critical (where they were in December) on covidactnow, the bug and I are returning more to December behavior -- okay to see vaccinated friends in small groups indoors without masks, and to take the bus and do other group/public things with a good mask. I took full advantage of that on Friday, and took the bus for the first time in 6 weeks or so to visit a work-friend. Then on Saturday I got my hair trimmed, and good riddance to ratty ends. I suppose this also means I can quit my position as hairstylist for
heisenbug, which I didn't think of when we had this conversation. And most important to my happiness, on Sunday I went back to the gym.
My act also was accepted for the student show, so that's happening for real and my Weds morning lessons have officially switched from handstand technique to show prep. The coach says my initial choreography has good bones, and last week we mostly worked on things like transitions, tuneups, and characterization. We did a lot with where my attention/gaze should be going, and came up with one more arm-shape theme to repeat a couple of times throughout.
In summary, my world suddenly feels a lot bigger. Work returning and omicron easing up at the same time is a little bit extra, but so be it.
And although I don't have a ton to add about this, the bug and I had our 23rd anniversary very quietly last night, with fancy takeout and dressing up at home. That's the "red white red red red". I've now definitely been with him for more than half my life and also for longer than I had Nala.
