I think this last week was a good week -- though now I'm sniffly, and damn near everyone who has avoided covid thus far is getting it now, so I don't like my immune system being run down. (Cue test says I'm covid-negative; it's some other sniffle.)

Good or decent things:

  • I tried lollipop lyra on Monday night and found it very acro-like, which means I took to it like a duck to water and the teacher was all "you're a natural" and "I want to see you back in the air every day!". Then I went back to my endless handstand training, because the bruises behind my knees don't really want to see me in the air every day. But it was fun, and I got some cute pictures and video.

  • Hypercube remains heavily medicated. She gets two meds in the morning and five at night, plus a temperature check and breath rate check sometime during the day. She doesn't cough! The oral steroids -- we're now on an enormous dose -- work better than the inhaled ones. All other lab tests came back negative. No cancer, just Really Bad Asthma. We have a checkup on Friday, and I'll definitely be asking the vet what our overall prognosis is, but for the moment she seems all right.

  • Partly because the squirrel was in Seattle and I was trying to use my dateless time wisely, I touched a moment of "zero inbox" at work on Wednesday night. The heavens cracked open, angels sang and it didn't last... but it was amazing anyway.

  • I pressed buttons to sign up for an 8-day handstand retreat in November. It's scary but I'm going! There's a domestic flight within Costa Rica that will only let me have 35 or maybe 30 lb of luggage, so I'll be packing light. The location basically looks like heaven, at least, so I shouldn't need much beyond shorts and a Kindle. And it gives me an adventure to plan. This is one of the teachers, btw... mrrrr. I want to be her.

  • We got a new mattress, and nobody ever seems to do that until it's time and past time. Thus, it's good.

The project of reading down my to-read shelf continues. Got a large chunk of reading time on Saturday night to knock out a book that had become a slog. I didn't take much note of when I started, but Goodreads is helpful here; looks like I started this project on June 15 and have read 9 books from the shelf since then (no, 9.5, if you count my audiobook progress on The Hidden Palace, which we certainly ought to.) The first four were ones I'd been putting off for some time. There are about 19 weeks left to Christmas and 15 books left on the shelf, most of them shorter/fluffier than the ones I've already been through. So I'm looking good on that.

And, argh! I didn't post on Sunday night when I meant to, and then Monday turned into emergency vet trips and was no fun. But there'll be more info on that next time, anyway. Might as well just post.
