I had a long week of working past midnight most nights, trying to write "onboarding" decks for the new VP (and present two of them, on Weds and Thurs) and get a few things organized for the upcoming promo discussions. I never did make it in to the office (WFH the whole time, violating some rules). I got a chance to talk to a person or two with power, and I don't think they are listening to me about why not to reorg my group in the worst possible way. I just feel like I'm circling the drain. At the same time, not working hard last week would have been shitty to my director, who I'm trying to help. I'm woefully behind on email.

I didn't work out enough either -- and if you're getting the idea that I just sat at home sadly working all week, you're correct. But still, on Wednesday I had a lesson in which there were a couple of good insights. I did my new favorite lift-and-roll-over drill a lot of times in a row, and got more okay with the idea of jumping straight into a leaned-forward position.

Civic activity: Tuesday we went over to Blue-Green street to watch the presidential debate with the polycule. It was tense at first, but Kamala Harris showed everyone how easy it is to manipulate Trump. Ezra Klein did a good episode on the evening if you don't want to take 90 minutes to watch it. Then on Sunday I was supposed to hold a postcard-writing event to get out the Democratic vote; my postcards didn't show up in time so that was postponed, but then someone else had postcards from the same organization so she came over with 100 postcards of her own. In the end we had six people and wrote 100 postcards, and it wasn't unpleasant except for the unexpected time it took. I feel a lot more confident now about dealing with my own 200.

As for outings and events, Thursday the Impulsive Young Cat turned 2, although we wouldn't realize it until the next day; on Wednesday I went to a nearby Lego place with the bug, and although it was underwhelming it was nice to take a short break; and on Friday we had our 21st wedding anniversary, which 100% means that our marriage can drink now. Saturday I went on a whale-watching trip with the squirrel, and we saw two full breaches! If you like whales, check out their insta.

Lastly, somehow, [personal profile] apfelsingail is almost here. I took some groceries over to her new place today, that's how close it all is.
