Yesterday's company bbq was pretty sweet. They always have a drawing for door prizes, and we ended up with the best (though not most expensive) one, the complete second season of the Simpsons on DVD. We didn't actually win the drawing, but the people who did win it gave it to us because they were never going to sit down and watch it. That's excellent... we will. In fact I think that'll be my weekly stress relief between now and you-know-when. :)

Oh yes, I also left my TKD stuff in someone's car and had to show up as a white belt for test review last night. Dorky, dorky. My nice lifting gloves are in that bag too, which sucks... now I have to go lifting, and help B move, with my old crappy ones tomorrow. Oh well... no point letting it get to me. I'm not going to TKD today anyway, since I managed to get my hamstrings sore yesterday and have no, repeat no interest in being sore on Tuesday. So forget that. Today will be for doing chores (mostly done) and going to see the chapel space with HLM, and going back to work, and that will have to do. Maybe I'll put in a little cardio at the crappy work gym... maybe not.

Had a nice moment earlier. I bought a copy of The Artist's Way and am very excited about working through it... I don't feel like my artistic side has come out much lately (though, in case you didn't know, it's a 12-week course that requires some definite time commitment, and so I think this may have to wait until my other 12-week course is over). I was thrown off at first by its use of the word God but when I read the actual text about how to unstick the inner artist, I think a lot of what it has to say makes sense. So I have decided to give it a chance, doing mental word substitution whenever I stumble across the G-man. (And some other time when I feel like talking about it, maybe when I've actually started going through the book, I'll tell you what I will substitute.) Anyway, the nice moment came when I was reading some from the middle of it, and it said something like Picture the room you had as a child. What was it like? What was your favorite thing in that room? Now, how about the room you're sitting in now? What is in it that you like? Nothing? Try putting something in it that you really like, maybe something from that childhood room. Upon reading that I glanced around and was reminded of how many things in that living room I love... four of my own best drawings, a hammock I bought in Key West with HLM, a metal cat I bought in Germany with HLM, a wall sculpture I saved up for, my paper lantern... hey, I haven't been treating myself so badly. :) I did, after some thinking, remember the one thing I really liked in my old room (a rainbow wind sock I had hung over my bed). I do still have it, though it's not hung up anywhere.

And on that note, it's laundry time.

I also bought it recently! I was using my 50% of anything at Jo-Ann Fabrics (Craft store). I haven't read it yet, but it looked really interesting. I haven't started it officially yet, but when I flipped through it I read the same exact passage. Weird! :)

I hope we both get a lot out of it. I also am a bit wary of the G-word, but I can kind of change it to something else in my head when the context is positive.
