Blue Saturday

What a perfect sunny Saturday. I must record the contentment so I remember that days like this happen! I was up early (off to Home Depot to order some shelving), and by the time I came back the whole female half of the city had declared it to be a Skirt Day. I joined in, giving my Whatever Skort its first real wearing as I headed back out to dump my old undergrad textbooks in a Got Books bin across town. Hanging out with bluechromis, dinner with heisenbug and that's one hell of a good Saturday. I got lots of Vitamin D and lots of lumens in my eyes. The day even included two episodes of looking at drawer pulls for cabinetry, which was delicious... those who know me well will know that I'm not being sarcastic. I love looking at hardware, it's like jewelry for the house. Which reminds me that I also got a neat pair of pearl earrings.

Contented sigh. :-)

Now, this is very important, I have been given a meme! 10 things I like/love about the color {blank}. I was given blue by a_kosmos.

1. Blue looks very, very good on me, because it sets off my eyes so well. I almost consider it cheating to wear blue.
   


2. While we're on the topic of eyes, I absolutely love that Birdie's eyes are the same blue as mine. My eggs apparently knew what was important.


3. I love that blue is the color of the limitless and vast. Blue skies... blue ocean.


4. Remember that hit song by Enya? If all you told was turned to gold / if all you dreamed were new / imagine sky, high above / in Caribbean blue. You're welcome.


5. Sapphires. Obvious but true.


6. I love it that in 2008 scientists figured out a way to grow blue roses. Every year something that once seemed impossible and unattainable becomes real.


7. Blueberries are delicious, and also have a functional antioxidant effect on both brain and muscle tissue. NOM NOM NOM.


8. During a very stressful time, I saw Blue Crush in the theater and it gave me 104 minutes of fun surfer movie instead of my grim little existence. Loved the camera work -- somehow they filmed from inside the waves.


9. My German teacher once was in Germany when his friends asked how he was doing. "Oh, I am blue", he said in German, meaning he was sad -- but what he said meant I am drunk. When he told us this story, I came a little bit closer to realizing that adulthood is ad-libbed and grownups are people too.


10. I like that blue is the coolest color. Does this explain why blue jeans never go out of style?

I had blue eyes for a few weeks/months. Then they went hazel. Sometime I think that makes me drawn to blue eyes in general.
