I move in circles that overthink everything, which means every holiday (and major news event) exposes me to more backlash against the supposed majority viewpoint than that actual viewpoint. This phenomenon is both valuable and annoying.

At any rate, I do lazy atheist Christmas at home with [livejournal.com profile] heisenbug and the kitties -- I'd say "instead of with family" but they are my closest family. Duh. Holiday bingo around my house would be like: we briefly debate whose stocking is whose, I take a nap with Nala even though I drank lots of coffee, someone is given alcoholic chocolates, someone is given two copies of the same book, some cat gets super into playing with discarded wrapping paper. We have a tree and presents and, on my part, tremendous slothfulness.

Do I like it? Yes, I like it. There must be something healthful about annual, encouraged laziness, because practically every culture has such a thing. And there are always new books! The people I feel sorry for today are the poor schmucks who work at Amazon and other online retailers... they're "all hands on deck" today and I know it, while Zillian workers bask in the annual production freeze.
