As usual, life is scary
Nov. 18th, 2003 11:56 amSo I had mortgage nightmares last night. Great, yes, it's always good to freak out. I think anything related to housing is always super-stressful just because of the specter of ending up homeless... and oh, that reminds me, I think kfb is homeless as of today. Yeah, I feel great about standing by and letting that happen. But he's got to find his own way. And I, for my part, apparently have to vaporize my savings account for some reason. Destiny? Funny how this all seemed clearer 24 hours ago. :b
It'll be okay, but I do hope another couple paychecks come in before I have to actually write The Check.
On the bright side, our state courts have ruled that the current ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional. Goodie! The official resident office lesbian here is unhappy because they didn't go all the way to allowing marriage licenses to be issued immediately, but giving the legislature 180 days to come up with a solution actually sounds pretty strong to me for a 4-3 ruling. Edited to add this: we just learned that there's nothing the legislature can do to ram through a constitutional amendment in 180 days in this state... so there WILL be a period of time in which licenses are issued to gay people before the evil fundies can shut it back down. Yaaaayyyyyyy!!! I hope this is the tiny chink in the dike that ends up setting the flood free.

He he, you said Dike.

There's no real way you could help him, other than letting him stay with you, and clearly that ain't an option. So...consider yourself hereby absolved of all nightmare inducing guilt by the high priestess of "low empathy socialism". :)
As for the mortgage thing...umm. Well, that's scary shit, I ain't got no help for you there, except that I know, and you know, you'll kick any problem-that-has-the-bad-sense-to-arise's ass like you always do. With STYLE. :)
And yay for gay marriage. Think of the improvements in bridesmaid dresses ALONE. "Queer wedding for the straight guy"
I also said Chink. ;)
Date: 2003-11-18 06:16 pm (UTC)You're right about everything, as always. I just have these visions of shivering, rag-clad kfb finally stumbling to my doorstep in midwinter and reaching for the doorknob with a shaking finger, only to find that we've moved to some nice middle-class condo where he'll never find us (or alternatively to some termite-infested dump that's reduced us to living on pasta and limes). Can't you see it? It's very "little match girl." Okay, shut up now, imagination, you've done your job.
Must... focus... on... good things. Hey! Condo-warming party! Suddenly I see a purpose again. :)
