Back to life, back to reality
Apr. 14th, 2003 12:11 pmWhat? Obese kids have unhappy lives? I guess this is supposed to be surprising. What a nasty problem the whole obesity epidemic is.
I spent the weekend trying to get back to normal in any number of ways, not to mention making a bracelet and necklace to go with one of the shirts I got in Italy. Mmm, me love that bead store. Want to make matching earrings as long as I'm in that groove. :)
I did a upper body / lower body split at the gym, not because I've started doing splits but because I always forget that my damn gym closes at 6:00 on Saturdays. That's okay, I was pretty weak on Saturday anyway... couldn't get back up to my recent gains from two weeks ago. I think with my metabolism, my body just starts to munch up my muscles after more than about 5 days go by. :( Anyway, Sunday I went back to finish up, and on the third rep of my second set of squats I felt something go twink! in my upper right leg (inner hamstring). Sharp bad pain is bad, so I stopped, of course. Today that one doesn't seem worse than the other one (both are sore) so I guess it was more a warning twinge than an actual "you just got hurt" signal. Still, I'd just like to say this: damn my inner hamstrings! I'm going to have to tone the squat weight down even more, and start being REALLY cautious about being able to do a lot of reps at one weight before moving up to another. I just never had to be this careful with my upper body! Sigh.
Today's been nice enough so far. I was up at 5:00 thanks to jetlag, but that gave me tons of time to make breakfast, stretch, and so forth before work, so it was okay, and people at work seem happy to have me back. Bad stuff coming up is that I have no money (spent too much in Italy, quite unlike me, bad fetus) and, despite never wanting to see another airplane again, I have a short biz trip later this week. So I really need to stop puttering and start working. I have so many ideas right now for cool/creative things to do, but only one of them pays me money.
