The aging of America

flexagonHa ha, oops, I just spent $83 on a shoe rack. Apparently hold everything is as generous with their shipping rates as they are with their original pricing. But oh well, my shoes will be in one place when it arrives.
I just read two articles in a row about the aging of America. I remind myself for at least the 100th time that next time I get brave enough for individual stock-picking I should really take a look at the leading manufacturers of medical equipment, especially for geriatric care. Wonder who's the leading supplier of cataract surgery equipment? Are there any publicly traded nursing home companies?
I'm not being evil, just slightly morbid. I'm going to need money someday if I'm going to support the 2.3 (or whatever, the number is scary) old baby boomers who'll be depending on me while I'm still in the workforce and they're not, especially if I keep spending so much on shoe racks. And the one thing we know they'll need and want is lots and lots of medical care. :b
