Ufff. Nice of [livejournal.com profile] cz_unit and company to post the exact reasons poly would not work for me. Jealousy aside, just getting things to work with one person (and three cats) has been probably my biggest accomplishment of the last 5 years. The thought of putting that much more work into my romantic and everyday life, even if I thought the end result would be better than what I have now, is incredibly tiring. (Course, it helps that I love my little family so much as it stands. We're so goddamn adorable. ;) This is not a new thought, just kinda reinforced by that post. I found it a pretty chilling read.

I cut my thumb pretty badly last night while washing a piece (the sharp piece) of the food processor. :_( I have one of those 3M foam bandaids on it, and no intention of looking underneath for a few days. It was dripping last night and it looked like I might lose a fair-sized flap of skin.... sucky, sucky, sucky. I hate it when I hurt my hands. So this is one more argument for getting a dishwasher.

Lastly, today we sign the purchase & sale agreement for the condo. I'd hoped to nip into Harvard Square and write the check while out on my lunch friend-date, but the lawyers are still doing the final draft, so it isn't happening until afternoon. I already have plans to go for a drink tonight with AJ and HLM, on the assumption that I'll need it after that. I know just what I want, too: hot chocolate with a shot of peppermint schnapps, and several thousand repetitions of the mantra it's not gone, just turned into home equity...

Good luck tonight :) I mean on getting your drink the way you like it without a struggle...I don't think luck is involved in the condo purchase signing, just a fair amount of fortitude and we know you've got that.

Your thumb sounds quite painful...I highly recommend a dishwasher!

Oh, and I forgot to mention re: poly...yup same here. It seems like a reasonable concept but I know there is no way in hell I'm anywhere close to secure enough to even entertain the concept of J kissing someone else much less allowing him to do it.

food processor blades

Every time since I was about ten years old, whenever I was cleaning the cuisinart blade, my mother has repeated her story of cutting her thumb so deeply on one of those blades that it didn't stop bleeding for hours. Along with getting me very tired of hearing her tell the story, it has installed in me a very deep respect for the sharpness of those blades. Guess I should have been repeating that story to all my friends these past years. ;-)

Hope it heals quickly.
