Dec. 25th, 2003 06:29 pmYay! Merry Christmas! (...to those who celebrate it, yeah yeah.) My loot today consisted mostly of: the Starbucks gift card I've been agitating for, Wicked by Gregory MacGuire (from my mom, who'd've guessed? she picked it off my Amazon wish list!), The Meaning of Everything, some silk thermal pants liners from Land's End, some underwear (the sexy kind, from the sexy husband, of course), and Uru... otherwise known as the fourth Myst game. :) Considering that HLM has given me Riven and Exile in the past, I might have seen Uru coming if I'd even known it existed. Ha. :)
(HLM also seemed pleased with the split keyboard I gave him, and with Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Azkaban. It was pretty cute watching him read the first page of that, with the English version and the German/English dictionary all spread out on his lap. Such a scholarly bug he is.)
So, you can guess what I've done with my day: read part of Wicked, which is insanely good so far, played Uru for a couple of hours, eaten some of the (also insanely good) cookies we made yesterday using The Best Recipe and the Andes mint chocolate baking chips my mom sent, and fallen asleep on the couch. Zzzzzz. Very peaceful. Uru gave me a bit of a headache because it's all 3-D and you have to actually navigate around in it... yay, all the tedium of the other Myst games plus it requires coordination!--which is not to say it isn't gorgeous or that I don't like it, just that I needed my little nappie after a couple of hours. ;)
I also gave myself a nasty Christmas anti-present when I realized that somehow I'd gotten two days behind on my birth control pills... something I've never done before in the nine years I've been on the little things. It's the worst time of the cycle I could have done such a thing, too. Rrrrrrrgh. Little fertilized egg, if you're in there, please... for both our sakes just give up right now. : /
I have high hopes for the rest of the weekend, but not so much for today. This one day, of all days in my year, is for relaxing, and I have to say it feels wonderful after the last few weeks of constant fidgets.
