I'm very glad for this 3-day weekend. After working both days last weekend, I have actually managed to take two days off, and I'm sleeping longer every night... so I guess I'm relaxing some, even with lots of things on my mind and doing lots of workouts (both days so far I've gone to both the regular gym and to circus). I actually went on a date with Norwood today where he whisked me off to the hotel and we leapt into bed and NAPPED LIKE MANIACS.

Someone else posted this article on applying the five love languages to self-love, and I like the notion even though I find some of the examples in the article to be either miscategorized or just way off what I would have chosen. (Also, leaving masturbation off the "Touch" list is such a blatant omission that it feels in-your-face purposeful.) I'm kind of interested in making lists of the things I do for myself in each category, now.

My ex-boss, now peer/friend, at work, told me about writing down all the ongoing projects in his life -- half-done repairs, books he's reading, etc -- how he came up with about fifteen, and started forcing himself to finish stuff before picking up new stuff. In that spirit, I'm trying to finish off one of the two nonfiction books I'm stuck in the middle of; while I'm working, I'm pretty sure "one at a time" is the right approach, and sticking to lighter material. And I've made some progress on my play-through of Super Mario Bros 3, which has obvious utility. ;-)

Before I go back to work on Tuesday, I want to identify 2-3 weeks I can take off this spring after the performance review season is over. (Speaking of self-love: quality time.) Last year I did the summer circus thing, and that was fabulous but not nearly as relaxing as the four weeks I took in 2017. I want to do that again. I know three weeks will be better than two.

So glad you've had a bit of a breather- sounds like you really needed it.

I actually did something similar to the projects list- I've been feeling super scattered and unfocused and did a brain dump of everything in my head. It's like an 80-90 item list of things I need to do, plan for, projects to complete, and triage. It's a cluster, but the only new stuff I'm allowed to formally add to it are essentials, like scheduling a dentist appointment or an arborist to trim some trees.
